Walks ending at Ambleside 17th March 2025

The A walk will be led by Alan, and is approximately 9 miles and 2300 feet

The walk will start from Ings via various lanes to Grassgarth and on to High Borrans where we will pick up the track known as 'Dubbs Road' and make our way to the lovely village of Troutbeck. Hopefully, if the weather is kind the group should take in good views of the Kentmere Horseshoe and other surrounding Fells and Lake Windermere. From Troutbeck we climb up to Wansfell where, at the summit there will be more great views before we start the initially steep descent into Ambleside. They are mostly good tracks, and there is more descent than ascent!

The B walk will be led by Glynis and is approximately 10 miles and 1000 feet

We will start at Limefitt Park and take the path that goes towards High Street, leaving the path at the start of Troutbeck Tongue and climbing to the highest point. This is a steep climb of about 400ft but is the only real ascent on the walk. The views from up there are spectacular and well worth the effort. We will then walk the length of the Tongue and come down at the other end and take the path along Hagg Gill and then into Troutbeck. From Troutbeck we will walk up Robin Lane and go through Skelghyll Woods and descend into Ambleside

The C walk will be led by Frank and is approximately 7 miles and 700 feet

We will start at the bus stop for Rydal Church on the A591 then down to Pelter Bridge and following the track down to Rydal Water and along the lakeside past Jobson Close. We then head north through woods over a bridge to cross the A591 and up to the coffin route track which is 170 ft of ascent. The track goes under Nab scar, continues to Rydal Hall and Rydal Mount through the wood to the A591. Then we go down to Cote How, Brant Brows and follow the River Rothay to Fox How and Brow Head through Rothay Park to Ambleside.
