Glynis is leading the A walk which is approximately 11.5 miles and1800 ft of ascent.
The A Walk will start at Clapham and will go up the Right of Way past Ingleborough Cave. From there we will head towards Crummack Dale and then into Wharfe. We will join the Dales Highway as far as Wharfe Wood but will then turn right to climb Smearsett Scar. From there we will head for Stainforth and cross the railway line to visit the Hoffman Kiln. This is a type of ring shaped continuous kiln designed for production of bricks or lime and is very well preserved. You may like to bring a small flashlight as it can be dark inside and we will walk all the way through. From there to Langcliffe and the Pennine Bridleway down into Settle.
Andrew is leading the B walk which is a linear walk from Clapham to Settle, approximately 9.5 miles 1300ft of ascent.
We start in the centre of Clapham heading east on Thwaite Lane passing Slaindale to join a quiet tarmac road for 500m where care will need to be taken. Turning south along Wood Lane passing Wood End before climbing east through Oxenber Wood and Wharf Wood which will hopefully be filled with bluebells, orchids and wild garlic. We continue east to climb Smearsett Scar, the highest point of the day at 363m. From here we will descend via Little Stainforth to join the Ribble Way at Stainforth Falls. The route then follows the Ribble Way to Settle.
Ray is leading the C walk which is just under 6 miles with about 750 feet of steady climbing.
Starting at the Leisure Centre at Giggleswick Bridge we walk about 2 miles alongside the River Ribble to the A65 Bypass. From there we cross river and along Lodge Road to Lodge Farm and then along Lambert Lane to Sugar Loaf Hill. Passing round Sugar Loaf, we then pick up the scenic path running east west underneath Warrendale Knotts back to Settle.
