Walks ending at Cartmel 1st February 2025

The A walk will be led by Andy and is about 9 – 10 miles and approximately 1450 ft ascent

The walk starts in Grange-Over-Sands and goes through Eggerslack Woods to reach the top of Hampsfell with its hospice and viewfinder. From here we will drop down to Pit Farm and Cartmel, before crossing part of the race course and taking a path to Walton Hall. From here we will ascend to Howbarrow with its lovely view over the Leven’s Estuary. The walk then heads north to reach Speel Bank before heading back to Cartmel via Wall Nook and Well Knowe.

 

The B walk will be led by Lesley and is approximately 7 – 8 miles and 1500 ft ascent

The walk starts in Grange-Over-Sands and starts by doing a loop through Charney Well and Eden Mount before passing Nutwood Manor and going into Eggerslack Wood and onto Hampsfield Farm.  From here we go onto Hollow Lane & loop round and up to Hampsfell and the Hospice before going down to Spring Bank and across the golf club and into Cartmel.

 

The C walk will be led by John & Linda Mountford and is just over 6 miles and 900 ft with 7 stiles

A circular walk. The route starts in an easterly direction through Cartmel to Pit Farm and onto Hampsfell, this is where all the ascent takes place, and we will take our time ascending. On the fell we have panoramic views of Morecambe Bay & surrounding area. We then descend to High Farm and turn northwards skirting Eggerslack & Merelwoods to Hampsfield. Here the route is east to Hampsfield Hall & Old House Wood, finally turning south back into Cartmel following quiet lanes & a short road walk.
