Walks ending at Grasmere 16th February 2026

The A walk will be led by Andy and is approximately 8-9 miles and 2200 feet.

The walk begins in Grasmere and heads up to Far Easedale where we cross Stythwaite Bridge and follow the path round Tarn Crag to Easedale Tarn. Here we will take the unusual step of not crossing the stepping stones, but circumventing the tarn and crossing a gill at its western side. From here we have about a 700 foot climb to Blea Rigg. After this it is an undulating walk over to Lang Howe via Great Castle Howe and Swinescar Pike before descending back into Grasmere.

Please note: if there is heavy rain before the walk this route may change!

The B walk will be led by Bob and is approximately 7.8 miles and 1500 feet.

From White Moss Common, we ascend in easy stages via Loughrigg Terrace, High Close and Dow Bank to the top of Meg's Gill, with good views N and S. We then cross rather featureless ground (where I follow a slightly different route every time I cross it!), with Langdale L, passing Lang Howe Tarn, Swinescar Pike, Little and Great Castle Howe to Blea Rigg. We then descend a thin but easy path down to Easedale Tarn and the good path past waterfalls into Grasmere.

The C walk will be led by Tony and is approximately 6.5 miles and 814 feet.

The walk is a circular starting in Grasmere and walking along the Coffin Route to Rydal Hall and then down to Rydal Water to pick up Loughrigg Terrace and then onto Grasmere.
