Walks ending at Ribblehead 28th March 2026
The A walk will be led by Andrew and is 9 miles and 2300 feet.
We are starting at Ingleton and ascending Ingleborough via Crina Bottom. We will descend east to follow a high level contour before turning south east to Simon Fell and Lord's Seat. We then return to the contour path passing Park Fell. We will descend to Ribblehead via Ingleborough nature reserve.
The B walk will be led by Bob and is approximately 9.3 miles and 1500 feet.
We start in Ingleton and follow the Ingleborough track a short distance uphill before dropping to Skirwith for a spectacular view of the quarry which is almost invisible from the Falls Walk despite its closeness. We go on to cross the easy stepping stones at Beezleys and then head uphill onto Twisleton Scars for a delightful 3 mile walk along an almost flat grassy terrace, with views ahead towards Ingleborough, Chapel-le-Dale and Whernside. We pass High Scales farm and join the Dales High Way past Ellerbeck, Bruntscar and Ivescar, then follow field paths and tracks to the railway viaduct and Ribblehead.
The C walk will be led by Paul and is 6.5 miles and 700 feet.
We start near Newby Head, at the turn-off for Dent on the Hawes road, then take the lane to Dent Head viaduct, and follow a stream up to the entrance to Bleamoor Tunnel. We climb gradually up Blea Moor, then descend to the far end of the tunnel and Force Gill aqueduct. A good track will take us to Batty Moss viaduct, and then to the pub at Ribblehead. Few if any styles, but it could be boggy in places.
