Walks ending at Staveley 12th April 2026

The A walk will be led by Julia and is approximately 10 miles and 1800 feet.

From Staveley, we cross the river and head up the road on Hall Lane. We follow the footpath and track through Brunt Knott farm and onto the moor over Brunt Knott and then Ulgraves. Then we head down to Gurnal Dubs and pass by Potter Tarn, circle around Birk Field and Frost Hole to Hagg Foot. We then follow the river to Staveley crossing and into Staveley .

The B walk will be led by Maria and is approximately 8 miles and 850 feet.

We leave the coach at Burneside, head north passing Sprint Mill and across fields to Hill Fold Farm then a gentle slope up Birk Rigg to the old Occupation road, turning west for about a mile to Gurnal Dubs tarn (possible lunch stop).  From here we head up across a good track to join a faint undulating path across ‘No Man’s Land’ to Black Beck and continue on the bridleway passing below Brunt Knott to Brunt Knott farm, then on towards Ghyll Bank and downhill via fields passing Elf Howe and onwards to Barley Bridge and into Staveley.

The C walk will be led by Phil and is just under 6 miles with very little ascent. 5 stiles.

My walk starts in Staveley and joins the Dales Way following alongside the river to the bridge at Bowston and returns to Staveley on the opposite bank.
