Borrowdale walks ending Tebay 3rd September 2023
I reckon that among 1000 people who walk in the Borrowdale that is by Derwent Water only one person walks in the other Borrowdale.
The A and B walks are the same except for the middle section.

The A will be led by David. It is approximately 12.5 miles and 2500 ft.

The B walk will be led by Helen and Helen. It is approximately 8 miles and 1300ft.
Both walks begin from the A6 and go to Ashtead Farm and then on a track which takes us to Borrowdale. The A walk then climbs up to Ashtead Fell, and across to Combs Hollow, Mabbin Crag, Whinfell Common and Whinfell Beacon before descending into Borrowdale and walking up to Low Borrowdale Farm. The second half of the walk is then the same as the B walk.
The B walk follows the A walk (at a distance!) from the A6 to Ashtead Farm and then to Borrowdale. Descending into Borrowdale we follow the river “Borrow Beck” for some 2 miles to Low Borrowdale Farm. We will have lots of pauses to appreciate the river and valley.
From Low Borrowdale Farm the A and B walks are the same. There is a 550 feet climb (this is the main climb for the B's) to the highest point at Belt Howe There will be pauses to admire the stunning views of Borrowdale along the way. We continue along the undulating ridge to Jeffrey's Mount with views over to the Howgills and North Pennines. From there we descend towards Roundthwaite, go along the lane a short distance to take a footpath which crosses the M6, Railway line and Lune River, appreciating the feat of engineering. At the Lune Bridge we will pause to take in the gorge and falls which are a hidden gem to most who are not locals! Then we go into Tebay on a footpath which was only made this year.
The C walk will be led by Frank. It is approximately 6 miles and 530ft.
It starts near Huck's Bridge and after a short descent to Borrow beck follows the river track. So, it's walking on a flat track to High Borrowdale and Low Borrowdale with stunning views as we pass down the valley.
The next part includes an ascent of 530 feet to the pass at Belt Howe, with plenty of pauses to appreciate the valley below us. Then we have a gentle descent on the track down beneath Jeffrey's Mount. At Roundthwaite the walk then continues down into Tebay crossing the river and up to the Cross Keys pub.
