Walks ending at Patterdale 12th May 2024

Special thanks to our walk leaders who have agonised about their walks because Kirkstone Pass has been closed on and off for many months, and was only reopened yesterday.

The A walk will be led by Glynis. Approximately 11 miles and 2500 feet.

We start at Limefitt Park and will take the path along Trout Beck and Hagg Gill to the north end of Troutbeck Park. We will then have a steep climb for about an hour up Park Fell and onto High Street which is the remains of a Roman Road. The top of High Street is also known as Racecourse Hill and in past times sports events including horse racing took place up there. We will then continue past The Knott and Satura Crag to Angle Tarn and then down to Patterdale via Boredale Hause. This will be changed in the event of Kirkstone Pass being closed or extremely wet weather.

The B walk will be led by Roger. Just over 8 miles and 550 feet.

Starting at Cow Bridge going alongside Brotherswater passing Hartsop Hall and by Sykeside up to a path near the road to Hartsop. From there the paths go by Angletarn Beck, Beckstones, Crookabeck and Rookin following an elevated path to Silver Crag. A rocky downhill path follows and then undulating paths passing Side Farm and into Patterdale. There should be stunning views of Ullswater and surrounding hills and mountains.

The C walk will be led by Marion. Approximately 7 miles and 700 feet.

We start the walk at Patterdale Hall and follow the woodland track alongside the Grizedale Beck. A short ascent to the track above Braesteads and along the valley past Broomhill Plantation. We cross the Beck and take the track past both Crossing and Elmhow Plantations. A short road walk then across fields back into Patterdale.
